Syrian Al Ittihad defeated Iraqi Al Naft in Aleppo 79-72. Al Ittihad outrebounded Al Naft 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Al Ittihad looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Will Brown (213-1997, college: Fayetteville St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Ken Brown (180-1989, college: Philander Smith) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-1988, college: Charleston) answered with 27 points and 5 assists for Al Naft. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bahrain Al-Muharraq in Al Muharraq. Hosts were defeated by Kuwaiti Kuwait 108-92. Point guard Hamad Hasan (191-1997) stepped up and scored 28 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Tony Carr chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side American forward Tyler Wilkerson (203-1988, college: Marshall) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists. An interesting game was also tough home loss of Saudi Arabian Al Ahli in a game in Jeddah versus undefeated Qatari Al Rayyan 98-88. Mouhammad Faye nailed 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Deandre Liggins came up with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Al Ahli in the defeat. Al Ahli's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
In the last game of round 1 Gorgan beat Sagesse on the road 86-74.
